An Irredeemable Lagos University Teaching Hospital LUTH… Nonchalant behaviors, bribery their lifestyle ravaging the Hospital

Man narrated his ugly, devastating experience of the Doctors, workers

A family friend was taken to LUTH few days ago on a faithful afternoon. First, they were told there’s no space in the wards and every relatives were confused, few hours later they said they can get a space in the ward if they can afford to pay a sum of N100, 000 naira. And without hesitating or any further delay the family quickly gathered the money and paid so that the man can fully be attended to, within a twinkles of an eyes he was given a bed in the ward.

Thereafter, they told the family he will need an oxygen, which money was paid and he was put on oxygen. Afterwards the doctors were examined and they were told to run some tests, they were on it when he passed. He passed within three hours of admission.

The family paid every kobo demanded with evidence of payment.

Then the drama began.

First, the hospital will release the corpse only to mortuary staff.

Mortuary staff said they wouldn’t touch the corpse until they receive a report from the Coroner.

The Coroner was nowhere to be found.

While waiting for the Coroner, the hospital staff insisted death certificate will not be issued unless an autopsy is conducted. How much to conduct an autopsy?

Autopsy will cost N200,000 imagine?

The family insisted they are not interested in autopsy. Autopsy is by choice.

They insisted.

The Coroner was eventually found. He signed whatever documents he was expected to sign.

By this time the family had hired an ambulance that will move the corpse to Ibadan with immediate effect and for proper burial arrangements.

The corpse will be released to only mortuary staff.

For over an hour, mortuary staff couldn’t be found.

Eventually, they sprung from somewhere and moved the corpse to the morgue where the chattered ambulance was already waiting.

They took the corpse in and insisted they must carry out autopsy before releasing it.

They said the Coroner tipped the autopsy box. Without a request from the family, and without asking the family their stands

The family insisted they do not require or request for autopsy.

Right there, they shut the morgue, closed the gate, told the family they cannot take the corpse, and left the family standing there.

The chattered ambulance was there, stranded. The family had no plan or intention to sleep in Lagos.

All the tricks was to ensure the corpse didn’t leave the mortuary today so that they can charge tomorrow.

Is there any honour for the dead in this regards? Absolutely No!

No feelings for the bereaved.

I understand that the management of LUTH may not be aware that their staff are into bribery and corruption even after the dead. This is very uncalled for and annoying.

Family seek Lagos State government intervention to curtain this hoodlums management of LUTH.

I believe some of those demons probably went to Mosque to pray for a better Nigeria while some of them will probably be in Church on Sunday to pray for Nigeria.

I have insisted that the solution to Nigeria’s situation does not lie in prayers. No.

As long as you have demons running around government institutions like this, no matter how fervently people pray for Nigeria, it will remain an irredeemable country.
