Fix Fagba Junction Now, Don’t Be Lazy Council Leaders!~By Oluwaseun Fabiyi

I have watched with utmost dismay and disgust; the infrastructural dilapidations bedeviling Iju communities, especially as it affects the popular Fagba Junction.

To say that, there is almost no alternative routes for commuters around that axis, is to say the least, since the roundabout connects different parts of the community. As such, the menace of having to waste precious time daily in traffic gridlocks around the axis, is a common challenge to grapple with.

Surprisingly and unfortunately, Iju road connects Ojokoro and Ifako-Ijaiye LCDAs, needless to say that, myself, countless other commuters, and even the two LCDA chairmen ply that road.

It is necessary to put this fact in perspective, for Lagosians to know that, these men are not oblivious of the fact that the road is in a terrible form. What an aberration and a disservice to the people and oneself!

Fagba Junction is a popular road, situated under Ifako-Ijaiye,an LCDA headed by Usman Hamsat. It important to note that, this LCDA shares boundaries at Railway; with Ojokoro LCDA;headed by HID Tijani.

The road has been left in a state of infrastructural comatose and abandonement. Many businesses within the axis have been grossly crumbled, with many closing shops due to the unmotorable condition of the road.

To add salt to injuries of those of us still plying the road, commuters would have to be held bound on a spot for between 40 minutes or more, any time they go for their daily businesses, because of potholes and other impediments.

If Governor Sanwo-Olu refuses to continue with some of the projects initiated by former Governor Ambode, is that enough reason for the two council chairmen to also refused to fix that road?

Come to think of it! What much does it takes, for both LCDA bosses, to put heads together, to chart a way forward? Or, how much would the reconstruction of that road cost them, to make it motorable and to ease people’s suffering?

If you ask me, I would say that infrastructural developments in Iju area of Lagos state has been zero.

Why should this menace continues? The two LCDAs chairmen should stop looking from afar, they should both rise to occasion, fix the road for ease of transportation.
