Sunday Adeyemo, commonly referred to as Sunday Igboho, a key proponent of Yoruba Nation, has presented a petition to UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, seeking recognition for Nigeria’s secessionist efforts.
While the movement characterized the petition’s content as confidential, this publication has learned that it pertains to the ‘Yoruba Nation agitation.’
Further investigation by our reporters revealed that the Yoruba Nation advocate filed the petition on Saturday, representing Prof. Adebanji Akintoye, the prominent leader of the Yoruba Nation movement.
This medium observed that other notable individuals accompanying Igboho included Diaspora Youth Leader, Prophet Ologunoluwa, Vice President of Ifeladun Apapo, Fatai Ogunribido, General Secretary of Yoruba World Media, Alhaja Adeyeye, and Member of Yoruba Nation Movement, Paul Odebiyi.
The movement is calling for swift intervention by the UK Prime Minister and his government to address their agitation for the establishment of a Yoruba-indigenous majority-owned country.
It is recalled that Banji Akintoye, a renowned Yoruba historian and forefront advocate for Oodua nation’s independence, had earlier asserted that the Nigerian government sought to coax Sunday Adeyemo (Igboho) into relinquishing his agitation.
The elderly individual revealed that during the activist’s imprisonment in the Benin Republic, former Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Tukur Buratai (retd.), utilized his diplomatic influence to smuggle a document to Igboho, offering him substantial financial compensation in exchange for abandoning his advocacy for Yoruba nationalism.

He said, “He has been released completely. He has won the hearts of the people here for his strength of character. They brought money to this young man; how many of our young men will do that?
“Former Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, came to him in the prison, promising him billions of naira if he would just sign a paper that Buratai brought.
“That he (Igboho) should say he had renounced the Yoruba Nation struggle, that he didn’t want the Yoruba Nation struggle anymore, that he had opted out of it.”
