Introduction
Mr Ekperikpe Ekpo, the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), has commended Tetracore Energy’s investment in a 5.3 million standard cubic feet per day (MMscfd) LNG facility. The commissioning of this facility marks a significant step towards enhancing Nigeria’s energy security and promoting cleaner energy solutions.

The Commissioning Ceremony
The commissioning ceremony, held at Tetracore Energy’s Atakobo site on the Benin-Sagamu Expressway, Ogun State, included the launch of a 3.1 MMscfd Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) facility and the groundbreaking for the 5.3 MMscfd LNG plant. The event was attended by key stakeholders, including government officials, industry leaders, and local dignitaries.
Minister Ekperikpe Ekpo praised Tetracore Energy for its vision and commitment to advancing Nigeria’s gas infrastructure. He emphasized the importance of these facilities in diversifying energy sources, promoting cleaner wealth, and ensuring energy security for Nigeria.
“Natural gas is highlighted as a pivotal element in the global energy transition towards sustainable energy systems.” Minister Ekpo noted. He said that natural gas provides a cleaner alternative to traditional fossil fuels and supports the integration of renewable energy sources.

The minister underscored that the projects would significantly reduce carbon emissions, promote environmental sustainability, drive economic growth, create jobs, and improve the quality of life for Nigerian citizens.
Role of LNG in Energy Transport
LNG was recognized for its versatile and efficient means of transporting natural gas over long distances, thus making it accessible to regions not connected to gas pipelines. Mr Olalekan Williams, CEO of Tetracore Energy Group, outlined the group’s capacity to deliver up to 70 million standard cubic feet of gas per day to multiple customers. He highlighted the state-of-the-art features of the newly commissioned CNG and LNG facilities and reaffirmed the group’s commitment to benefiting stakeholders across all levels.
