The Timeless Epic: Lisabi, A Film Classic~By Oluwaseun Fabiyi

I intend to watch this notable film produced by the accomplished young filmmaker Adedeji Lateef, also known as Lateef.

After viewing ‘Lisabi’, I observed that part 1 of the LISABI movie generated considerable buzz, impressive publicity, and notable accolades from start to finish.

Would you be willing to have my thoughts shared?

The Lisabi movie receives high praise from historians and mass media experts for its outstanding cultural authenticity, comprehensive tribal research, and masterful character development, specifically regarding the Oyo Mesi and Egba/Ijebu societies

A critical analysis of the groundbreaking movie ‘Lisabi’ reveals Odunlade Adekola’s compelling performance as the powerful king Alaafin of Oyo, who exercises immense authority to dominate and subjugate surrounding towns.

The demise of a distinguished township ruler, acted by Femi Adebayo who aimed to rectify the Alaafin’s treatment of subordinate kings and innocent civilians with disdain, resulted in far-reaching upheaval and uprisings across the Alaafin’s realm and neighboring areas.

The Actors Involved:

Sango Deji, also known as Olori Ilari, portrayed by Ibrahim Chata, was another village monarch executed by the head of Ilari warriors, skillfully acted by renowned actor Femi Adebayo.

Mr. Macaroni starred as Osokenu, whose betrothed was victimized by humiliation and rape under the Ilari commander’s authority.

Following Osokenu’s wife’s demise, her husband engaged in a battle with Oyo Ilari’s warriors, resulting in the defeat of ten warriors, prior to his own eventual capture

The youths of Egba Ijebu, led by Lisabi, responded to the chronic oppression and intimidation by Oyo Ilari warriors with a vigorous resistance, bolstered by Jobbo, Akilapa, Eye, and ancestral heritage, achieving a triumph over the Ilari forces and claiming the commander’s life in the process.

Take note of Part 2.
